About Judge Christine Bandín

Judge Christine Bandín currently presides in the Domestic Violence Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse in Downtown Miami-Dade.  She presides over both civil and criminal matters, which involve complicated interpersonal relationships.
Judge Bandín has been a model in the Miami-Dade community all her life. She was born and raised in Miami, where she took pride in capitalizing on every educational opportunity the community had to offer. She attended high school at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, going on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University in 2001. There, she was initiated into the Rho Lambda Honor Society, recognizing women who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service. Judge Bandín continued to pursue her education at the University of Miami School of Law, actively participating as a member in campus government organizations and the Mock Trial Team. She also served as Comptroller for Miami Law Women, an organization that encompasses students with similar beliefs and goals for the advancement of women within the legal profession. Upon completion of her education, she was admitted into the Florida Bar Association, accompanied by the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association. Not long thereafter, Judge Bandín was recognized as a Rising Star by the Florida Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement, a distinction earned by no more than the top 2.5 percent of young practicing attorneys.
In terms of professional experience, Judge Bandín is well-versed in a variety of litigation, specializing in the practice of insurance law. She worked diligently as an Associate at Andrews Biernacki and Davis in Insurance Defense Litigation for over six years. Afterwards, she was named Partner at Shutts & Bowen, LLP in 2017, after beginning in 2014 an Associate. There, she contributed to process for personal injury protection litigation cases, including drafting trial litigation strategies and maintaining close client contact throughout the litigation process. Her experiences provided opportunities to learn and grow as a civil litigator and develop a strong foundation in such areas as Civil Procedure and Trial Practice.  Despite her extensive education and variety of esteemed accolades, Judge Bandín continues motivating herself toward the expansion of her professional knowledge and expertise by attending a litany of judicial education programs, thus serving as a testimony to her dedication for refining her practice to the best of her ability. Judge Christine Bandín was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in October of 2018, and is currently seeking to retain her seat on the County Court Bench.
